plicsplus – Modularity in a new dimension

Level, pressure, switching and density measurement integrated into a single instrument and adjustment concept: plicsplus.
plicsplus – the consistent further development of a successful concept
With its instrument concept plics, VEGA has been simplifying the world of measurement technology since 2003. The concept is based on a modular housing system, customisable process fittings and standardised adjustment for all measuring principles. At ACHEMA 2009, VEGA is continuing this tried-and-true instrument concept, with many technical innovations, under the name plicsplus.
The focus of the new development is the consistent simplification and standardisation of measurement technology for the user. With its additional double chamber housings of plastic and stainless steel, plicsplus offers a unique selection of housings in three different materials. Instrument adjustment directly on the sensor is even easier thanks to the revised indicating and adjustment module PLICSCOM.
New DTMs created according to the DTM Style Guide improve the adjustment of sensors via PC by means of setup and diagnosis assistants as well as more meaningful menu structures. The handling of the new IEC 61508-compatible sensor electronics is really easy. New spring-loaded terminals make connection of the power supply and signal cable possible without tools. Pluggable terminal blocks and mechanical disassembly aids allow an electronics exchange in a few seconds.
Other features of the plicsplus sensors are: low-voltage power supply of 9.6 V, faster signal processing, higher measurement accuracy through more efficient microprocessors and an optional GSM/GPRS module for remote data transmission. Data memories holding 100,000 measured values and events with real-time information simplify the analysis and diagnosis of applications. Asset Management messages according to NE 107 enable anticipatory maintenance of sensors and effectively protect production processes.
Additional measuring principles – microwave barrier for level detection of bulk solids and sensors for radiometric measurement of level or density – extend the VEGA product range even further and provide the user with the most suitable sensor ever for his application.
